How should I clean my Tangle Angel brush?

Firstly, ensure that all excess hair has been removed from the brush. Then rinse under some warm water (not boiling) until all the dirt has gone, once cleaned allow the brush to dry before use again. Find out more here.

How often should I shampoo my hair?

Everyone’s hair is different so there is not a clear-cut answer to this question. That being said, we would recommend that you shampoo your hair at least once a week, if not more. Washing your hair helps to remove residue left over from styling products as well as dead skin cells which naturally occur.

On the other hand, it is possible to over-shampoo, which can result in dry and brittle hair from removing your hair’s natural oils. You will need to find the happy medium for your individual hair – many of us at Tangle Angel HQ find that washing our hair 2-3 times a week works well.

How can I get my hair to grow quicker?

One of the most common questions asked in salons is ‘how can I get my hair to grow quicker?’ and although genetics can largely influence your hair, there are several things you can do to aid its growth such as having a well-balanced diet including foods with protein and biotin which both help to promote hair growth.

Another key thing to help growth is to avoid over-styling your hair with heat products as these can eventually cause long-term damage if the right precautions are not taken.

How often should I get my hair cut?

How often you get your hair cut is a personal preference and it can be tempting to avoid getting haircuts if your want to grow your hair, but research has shown that if you want to keep your hair healthy and in tip-top condition, then you should get it cut every 6-12 weeks to keep on top of split ends.

Everyone’s time frame for a haircut will be different but typically you will be able to feel when you need a cut, for example, if you have visible damage or your hair feels heavy.

How do I get stronger, healthier hair?

Having strong, healthy hair is a goal that many of us strive for and there are a number of things you can do to help your hair along this journey. First of all, ensure that you give your hair a break from heat styling as often as you can. Also, try to let your hair air dry as much as possible before blow-drying, so it is at least 75% dry.

Another core thing to aid in having strong and healthy hair is to eat a balanced diet with plenty of protein and vitamins – this will help to boost collagen production which in turn, makes your hair stronger. Using moisturising conditioners and hair masks can also make a massive difference, nourishing your hair to be soft and shiny. We recommend using a hair mask once a week.

How often should I clean my hair brush?

Cleaning your hair brush is quite often a task that is pushed to the back of the list and before we know it, your brush is full of loose hair and product build-up, making it a much bigger job. How often you should clean your brush is dependent on the individual but our experts at Tangle Angel HQ recommend cleaning your brush at least every 2-3 weeks (and more often if you use a lot of product).

Will I lose less hair if I don't brush it?

There’s a lot of speculation around what does and doesn’t help hair growth; one of them being how often you brush your hair. Although it’s logical to think that brushing your hair less would lead to less hair loss, skipping brushing your hair won’t decrease the average amount of hair you lose – losing hair is a natural process and on average, people can lose between 50 to 100 hairs a day.

It’s important to remember that brushing your hair has a multitude of benefits including getting rid of any tough tangles and eliminating everyday product build-up.

Is there a best time to brush your hair?

Knowing how often to brush your hair can be difficult, especially if you’re on the go. You don’t want to be constantly brushing your hair to keep it in position (risking overbrushing and potential damage) or leaving it too long that tuggy knots form.

Everyone’s preference for this will depend on their personal choice and hair type; if you have naturally straight hair you may not need to brush it as much as someone with naturally curly and thick hair. At Tangle Angel HQ, our recommendation is to give your hair a minimum of 2 thorough brushes a day; once when you get up and before you go to bed, and then 1-2 small brushes throughout the day to keep your hair in tip-top condition and tangle-free.

Should I brush my curly hair when it's dry?

Brushing naturally curly hair when it’s dry can lead to frizzy locks and loose curls. For this reason, it is generally recommended that curly hair is brushed and detangled when wet. The reason for this is that when curly hair is dry, it can lose its elasticity, making it more prone to damage and breakages.

Our experts at Tangle Angel HQ also recommend also starting from the bottom up when brushing as this will help to reduce unnecessary tugging.

Does getting my hair cut actually help hair growth?

There is a lot of speculation about what helps hair growth, one of them being around how often to get your hair cut, especially if you want it to grow. It can seem a bit backwards to get your hair cut when trying to achieve long, luxurious locks, however, it can actually do your hair a favour in the long run.
