Top tips for looking after your wet hair

There’s so much advice flying around about how to look after wet hair that it’s easy to get lost in the noise.

Wet hair is much more fragile than dry hair so it’s important to take care of it! The experts at Tangle Angel have put together some top tips for looking after your ‘do – read on to find out more.

Use the correct brush type

Don’t just use any old brush from your dresser on wet hair. Choose a wet hair brush that’s been created for the task such as the Tangle Angel range, which have flexible bristles which glide through hair without pulling.

Start brushing from the bottom

If you start brushing from the top of your hair down, all you are doing is pushing tangles to the bottom which could damage your hair.

Start brushing through small sections at the bottom before working your way for tangle free hair and a pain-free process!

Be gentle with it

It’s tempting to rough up your hair with a towel as soon as you get out of the bath or shower, but hair is more susceptible to breakage when it’s wet and being rough with it will do it no favours. Use a soft cloth to gently dab your hair dry instead.

Don’t apply styling products while it’s soaking wet

Your hair simply won’t absorb styling products when it’s really wet – wait until it’s had a little time to dry so that they can penetrate the hair shaft properly.

Avoid heat styling

Excessive heat can damage your hair so avoid heat styling as much as possible.

If you do need to use heat tools, make sure you use some sort of heat protection product to help your hair retain moisture while you get the style you want.

Leave it down

Avoid tying your hair up while it’s wet, as it can break much more easily. If you need to keep your hair up, try using a scarf to keep it out of your face while it’s drying.
